Triangle Shawl

Materials and Equipment
3 balls of Berroco Yoga color 6402 (Swami) or color of your choice
1 hank of Sensations Majesty from the Sophisticates Collection in copper
size 19 knitting needles
size 35 knitting needles

Gauge: does not matter for this garment since I used a different yarn than the one suggested. There is a gauge listed with the original pattern.

Directions
This shawl is my version of this shawl. I used the yarns listed above and followed the pattern. I used the Yoga for the shawl and a combination of the Yoga and Majesty to make the fringe.

Button Purse

Materials and Equipment
2 skeins of Paton’s Classic Wool Merino- color Retro
Crochet hooks size J and Q
Large wooden button

Gauge: not crucial to finished piece

Directions
Purse
With J hook, Ch 40
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. 38 dc
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as stitch in any row or round), dc in each dc. 38 dc.
Rows 3-6: Repeat Row 2. Do not cut yarn at end of Round 6. Continue along edges of rows just worked.

Sides
Round 1: Ch 2, 2 dc in end of each row (12 dc), dc in each ch of opposite side of beg ch (38), 2 dc in end of each row on other side (12 dc), dc in each stitch of Row 3 (38 dc). 100 dc in all.
Round 2-13: Ch 2, dc in each dc around. 100 dc.
Round 14: Ch 2, dc in first 8 dc, dec over next two dc, (8 dc, dec) around. 90 dc.
Round 15: Ch 2, dc in first 7 dc, dec over next two dc, (7 dc, dec) around. 80 dc.
Round 16: Ch 2, dc in first 2 dc, dec over next two dc, (2 dc, dec) around. 60 dc.
Cut yarn and weave in loose ends.

Closure
Lay bag flat. Working with J hook and three strands of yarn, attach yarn to center of back side of purse and ch 20 . Sl st in same stitch as point of attachment forming a loop. Weave in loose ends.


Handles
With Q hook, and using four strands of yarn, ch 100.

Felt purse and straps according to your favorite method. Stuff purse with plastic bags to shape. When purse is dry, use scissors to poke holes 1 ½” in from the sides and 1 ½“ from the top. Poke through both sides to ensure even placement of holes. Thread each end of one strap through the holes on one side of the purse from the outside in and tie an overhand knot on inside of purse at each end, adjusting the strap to desired length. Cut off any excess strap. Repeat on other side of purse.
Sew button to center front side of purse at the desired distance from the top so that loop closure fits properly.

Felted Drawstring Bag

Materials and Equipment
1 skein of Paton’s Classic Merino Wool Yarn in Palais
Crochet hook size I
Scrap ribbon

Gauge: Rounds 1-3 = 3 inches

Directions
PURSE:
Ch 4
Round 1: Make 8 dc in 4th chain from hook. Close this and all rounds with a slip stitch in top of first dc.
Round 2: Ch 2 (does not count as first stitch), 2 dc in each stitch.
Round 3: Repeat Round 2.
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in first stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, (dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch) around.
Round 5: Ch 2, dc in first 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, (dc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch) around.
Round 6: Ch 2, dc in first 3 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, (dc in next 3 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch) around.
Round 7: Ch 2, dc in first 3 stitches, dec over next 2 stitches, (dc in next 3 stitches, dec over next 2 stitches) around.
Rounds 8-18: Work even in dc.
Round 19: Ch 2, dc in first 2 stitches, (ch 2, skip next 2 stitches, dc in next 2 stitches) around.
Round 20: Ch 2, dc in each dc, and work 2 dc in each ch 2 space.
Round 21: Do not make any chains. Skip first 2 stitches, (5 dc in space between next 2 stitches, skip next 2 stitches, sl st in space between next 2 stitches) around. Sl st in space before first stitch at beginning of round.
Cut yarn and weave in loose ends.

STRAPS (Make 2):
Using two strands of yarn together, chain 120.

Felt purse according to your preferred method. Before felting, cut a length of scrap ribbon long enough to thread through the ch 2 spaces of round 19. Thread ribbon through ch 2 spaces and tie ends together. This will prevent the ch 2 spaces from felting closed. After felting, remove the ribbon and discard.
When purse is dry, weave 1 strap through ch 2 spaces and tie ends together. Weave other strap through ch 2 spaces in the opposite direction of first strap and tie ends on opposite side of drawstring bag.

2 wooden beads

Directions
PURSE:
Ch 4
Round 1: Make 8 dc in 4th chain from hook. Close this and all rounds with a slip stitch in top of first dc.

Round 3: Repeat Round 2.
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in first stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, (dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch) around.
Round 5: Ch 2, dc in first 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, (dc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch) around.
Round 6: Ch 2, dc in first 3 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, (dc in next 3 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch) around.

DRAWSTRING:
Chain 120. Sl st in second ch from hook and in each ch across.

FLAP:
Ch 21
Row 1: Dc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. 19 dc.
Rows 2- 8: Ch 2 (does not count as first dc) Dc in first st and in each st across.
Row 9: Ch 2 (does not count as first dc), dc in first 8 stitches, ch 3, skip next 3 stitches, dc in remaining 8 dc.

Do not cut yarn.
Edging: Ch 1, work sc evenly spaced along side of flap, 3 sc in corner stitch, sc in each ch on opposite side of beg ch, 3 sc in corner stitch, sc evenly spaced along right side of flap, 3 sc in corner stitch, sc in each stitch and ch of Row 9. Sl st to top of first sc. Cut yarn leaving a tail for sewing. Sew flap to 20 stitches that form back of purse when drawstring is pulled (one group of 8 stitches, the ch 2 spaces on either side, and 4 stitches on outsides of ch 2 spaces) at bottom of Row 20.

STRAPS (MAKE TWO):
Ch 120
Row 1: Dc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. Cut yarn leaving a tail for sewing.

Place two safety pins at top of Round 7 so that they are lined up with the corners of the flap. Sew end of straps to center back of purse just below the flap. Sew other ends of straps to ends of strap top of Round 7 where safety pins are.

Cut a length of scrap ribbon long enough to thread through the ch 2 spaces of round 22. Thread ribbon through ch 2 spaces and tie ends together. This will prevent the ch 2 spaces from felting closed. After felting, remove the ribbon and discard. Felt purse according to your preferred method. Stuff with plastic bags to shape the bag while it dries.
When purse is dry, weave drawstring through ch 2 spaces and pull through ch 3 space of flap. Attach one wooden bead at each end of the drawstring and tie a knot to secure bead in place.
