Materials and Equipment
2 skeins of Paton’s Classic Wool Merino- color Retro
Crochet hooks size J and Q
Large wooden button
Gauge: not crucial to finished piece
Directions
Purse
With J hook, Ch 40
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. 38 dc
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as stitch in any row or round), dc in each dc. 38 dc.
Rows 3-6: Repeat Row 2. Do not cut yarn at end of Round 6. Continue along edges of rows just worked.
Sides
Round 1: Ch 2, 2 dc in end of each row (12 dc), dc in each ch of opposite side of beg ch (38), 2 dc in end of each row on other side (12 dc), dc in each stitch of Row 3 (38 dc). 100 dc in all.
Round 2-13: Ch 2, dc in each dc around. 100 dc.
Round 14: Ch 2, dc in first 8 dc, dec over next two dc, (8 dc, dec) around. 90 dc.
Round 15: Ch 2, dc in first 7 dc, dec over next two dc, (7 dc, dec) around. 80 dc.
Round 16: Ch 2, dc in first 2 dc, dec over next two dc, (2 dc, dec) around. 60 dc.
Cut yarn and weave in loose ends.
Closure
Lay bag flat. Working with J hook and three strands of yarn, attach yarn to center of back side of purse and ch 20 . Sl st in same stitch as point of attachment forming a loop. Weave in loose ends.
Handles
With Q hook, and using four strands of yarn, ch 100.
Felt purse and straps according to your favorite method. Stuff purse with plastic bags to shape. When purse is dry, use scissors to poke holes 1 ½” in from the sides and 1 ½“ from the top. Poke through both sides to ensure even placement of holes. Thread each end of one strap through the holes on one side of the purse from the outside in and tie an overhand knot on inside of purse at each end, adjusting the strap to desired length. Cut off any excess strap. Repeat on other side of purse.
Sew button to center front side of purse at the desired distance from the top so that loop closure fits properly.

Your designs are so totally cool. I like the Granny Scarf you did. That is so cool. I am going to add you to the list of blogs I read if that is cool with you. I like your work. I do some crocheting but have friends that are really good at it. And they dabble in kintting as well. Sorry for the rambling but it is cool. Thanks for sharing you patterns.
